HEAL Sharing Forum in Sacramento, California
The Network for a Healthy California and Health Eating, Active Living (HEAL) Collaborative organized a “Telling Our Stories” Forum that brought together more than 50 health professionals and nutrition educators. Participants shared resources and discussed success stories in community health education.
Following a nutritious breakfast, participants attended sessions on healthy cooking, physical activity, garden education, and workplace wellness. Champions for Change presented awards to recognize individuals and organizations working to educate, engage, and empower low-income communities.
In the afternoon, the group watched Nourish and discussed what they learned as individuals and what they could share as nutrition educators. Participants remarked on Nourish’s fresh perspective, positive vision of local agriculture, and cultural diversity. Numerous educators planned to use Nourish as a valuable tool in promoting healthy lifestyle and food choices.
